In a couple of weeks I’m off to Morocco for the second time in my life.  I’m so excited to be getting out of the UK and immersing myself in Morocco’s stunningly colourful culture again.

Whilst I’m in Morocco I’m going to be working with the lovely people at Solillas trying out their sandals.  I know from my previous experience pounding the streets in upwards of 40 degrees you need to have the right shoes.  I’m looking forward to seeing whether their simple and elegant sandals live up to expectations.

My exact itinerary is a little up in the air – I like to leave lots of room for spontaneity, but I thought I’d share a little of what I have planned for this adventurous trip:

We’ll arrive in stiflingly hot Marrakech and check in to our gorgeous riad Dar Habiba in a secluded spot walking distance from the souks. Later I’m excited to head back to the bustling Jamaa el Fna to soak up the atmosphere on my first night back in Marrakech.

I plan to jump straight in that plunge pool

We have the whole day to explore the souks and I’ll be taking lots of pictures.  One of my bugbears from last time I travelled Morocco was that I didn’t have a great camera.  Won’t be making the same mistake twice!  I plan to find a nice spa for when the heat all gets too much but I’m not having a traditional hammam again, my last experience involving jelly, nakedness and giant paper pants disturbed me for life.

DAY 3 – 6

By day 3 it’ll be time to grab our hire car and head off into the Atlas Mountains!  I can’t wait to see them, I’ve tried not to look at too many images before going but I can see they’re going to be spectacular.  We’ll be staying at Douar Samra – a traditional guesthouse in one of the highest villages of the Toubkal Massif  which looks spectacularly remote.  They even have a treehouse which is on my 25 at 25 list so I’m hoping to stay in it! We’ll be spending the mornings trekking and the afternoons snoozing.

Don’t you just want to dive into those cushions for a nap?

DAY 7 – 8

We’re leaving the tail end of our trip a little open – we might take a drive to the sea side town of Essaouria or head back to Marrakech for a sunset roof terrace cocktail on our last night.  Our flight doesn’t depart until late on our last day so I’ll no doubt be nipping in the souks getting a final few goodies and pictures to bring home.

Potential trip to the beautiful Essaouira is on the cards
